Kline speaks to Toronto Civil War Roundtable

October 11, 2013:

Just returned from giving a talk to an overflow audience at the monthly meeting of the Toronto Civil War Roundtable on the events leading up to the Civil War and the challenges of trying to present them in the context of the beliefs, global conditions, and constraints of the period, rather than interpreting them through 21st century perspectives. Some humor resulted from describing the challenges of presenting these issues to audiences through the medium of an historically accurate novel that aspires to appeal to history buffs, re-enactors, military adventure readers, and the general reading public. An excellent question and answer kept me on my toes and reflected the strong interest in “The Late Unpleasantness” among Canadians.  Many thanks to those who attended and to the Toronto Civil War Roundtable for an enjoyable evening and the opportunity to sing many copies of CONFLICTING LOYALTIES.
